Install unthreaded thermocouple and RTD probes into tanks, pipe fittings, and thermowells at a precise depth. These fittings add threads to your probe and use compression to hold the probe in place. This compression is what allows you to adjust the probe's insertion depth. Once you have the probe at your desired depth, tighten the nut, and the sleeve (ferrule) grips the sheath, creating a strong seal. Unlike other compression fittings, these fittings don’t crimp the sheath. That means you can reposition them by simply loosening the nut.Brass fittings resist corrosion in damp environments, but will tarnish if exposed to salt or chemicals in water or in the air.
