Short flutes make shallow cuts through sheet metal and thin-wall tubing without snagging and deforming the material.Carbide Short Length—Our shortest and most rigid bits are also the hardest and most wear resistant. They stay sharp at high temperatures and faster speeds for the straightest holes in hard and difficult-to-machine materials. Used in manufacturing and CNC drilling, they last 10 to 20 times longer than their closest alternative, cobalt steel. Carbide can be brittle, however, so these bits require a rigid machine tool holder to prevent breakage and should not be used in hand drilling applications.Uncoated—Excellent for a range of metals, they perform best when used on steel, aluminum, brass, and bronze.Straight Flute—Withstand heavy pressure without slipping when drilling hardened steel and other tough materials.Round Shank—The most common shank type fits in a drill press chuck.Standard Point—Good for general purpose drilling. You’ll need to make a pilot hole to center the bit.
