Able to withstand vandalism better than other crossbars, these mortise mount into a cutout in the door. Crossbars have a traditional design that is common in older installations. They open doors with a push and are often used on emergency exits. You can use them alone or mount an optional handle on the outside of the door. All can be cut to fit a range of door widths.To determine door swing direction, stand on the side of the door where it swings away from you. If it opens to the right, select a right crossbar; if it opens to the left, select a left crossbar. Latch bolt projection is the length the latch bolt extends from the door's edge.
